The history of ORONTEC
With ideas through timeOne thing is clear: with a young company like ORONTEC, which was only founded in 2014, the story is not so much a fascinating journey through time as one through visions and innovative ideas.

Ralph Jan Wörheide and Hendrik Hustert cooperate with their two companies and exhibit together at the European Coatings Show 2013. The feedback from the market is so overwhelming that they are planning further cooperation.
In March, the two entrepreneurs founded ORONTEC GmbH & Co. KG. The first devices are still built in Ralph Jan Wörheide's garage. With the participation at PaintExpo 2014, the European Technical Coatings Conference (ETCC) in Cologne, and ChinaCoat in China, ORONTEC establishes itself in the paint and coatings industry. Due to the rapid growth, Karl-Friedrich Dössel joins the company as an investor.
ORONTEC moves into the premises in the Wuppertal branch. The Q-Chain®Surface Scanner and the Q-Chain®-LCM Mono are successfully introduced to the market and the software and service capacities are expanded by additional employees.
The internationalization of the company begins with the founding of the ORONTEC subsidiary in the USA. ORONTEC grows to 10 employees and expands the production area by renting a production hall at W-tec in Wuppertal.
The laboratory automation business is expanded by a major order at BASF and the software solution Q-Chain® Process AI is introduced to the market. ORONTEC enters into a cooperation agreement with the European Centre for Dispersion Technologies (EZD).
